SUMMER READING

It's not a secret that I buy too many books.
I'm actually convinced I will die having been killed by my own bookshelves from being overloaded. I wasn't always this way though. There was a time when instead of books, I bought too many shoes, heels at that (shocker given I live in my Birkenstock's). But the times have changed and I've found books to be my drug of choice.

Summer reading in high school meant purchasing books we thought of as boring then procrastinating until the week before school started to read them all. I DREADED it! There was nothing that made me want to read less than being told to read and having someone tell me what books to read. I'll give our teachers credit though, they weren't all bad. The Joy Luck Club did become one of my favorite selections. But now that I'm grown and adulting and all I look forward to summer because that means new great book releases.

You have no clue how much I was looking forward to receiving that UPS package! Yes, those 5 books pictured up there are my summer selections, you can pretty much find them in any bookstore. Click on the links to read a summary/buy if interested. From top to bottom...

1. Shrill by Lindy West

2. The Girls by Emma Cline

3. Modern Lovers by Emma Straub

4. LaRose by Louise Erdrich

5. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

What are you all reading this summer? Read any of those listed? Any thoughts on those?
